Easter is the joyful celebration that Jesus Christ, raised to new life, has conquered death, the power of sin, and reconciled all things in him.
At this service, the new paschal candle is blessed and lit. The Easter candle burns in a prominent location in the church at all liturgies during the Paschal season, and then it is returned to its customary place in the church, beside the baptismal font.
