Marie Samuels-Isaac

When Marie Samuels-Isaac arrived in Toronto from Jamaica in 1965, she lived in St. Jamestown close to her job as a nurse in nearby Princess Margaret Hospital.

She walked past St. Simon’s Church many times “without realizing that it was a church.” Then she was invited to attend a wedding and found herself much impressed by the building.

She joined the congregation, and in 1999 married a fellow parishioner, Winston Isaac. Together, over the next years, Marie and Winston (who sadly passed away in 2018) were avid supporters of the church.

Marie and Winston served as wardens on the leadership team of the church. Also they worked together on the committee that chose our current priest, Geoffrey Sangwine, when St. Simon’s amalgamated with St. Peters in 2016.

Marie, who lives in Brampton, continues with active roles on the church altar guild, in hospitality, and is the go-to person for anyone wanting to arrange a wedding or a funeral at SPSS.
