Refugee Resettlement Ministry
Both of our founding parishes have a longstanding commitment to sponsoring and supporting refugees from many parts of the world, as part of our outreach ministry. We have second-generation families that are now part of the Canadian fabric. We support refugees with family reunification, documentation, refugee hearings, financial support, and social and emotional integration.
Currently, we are awaiting the arrival of the wife and mother of two of the refugees, now Permanent Residences, that we supported in the past few years. They have a growing family who would like her to be present as they establish themself in Canada. The global pandemic is slowing down the application process for this individual, but we continue to support her as we wait.
At this time, we are also supporting a refugee as they await their postponed hearing. We will be present at the hearing and have offered this individual support through gainful employment in the parish.
In 2019, we aided a member of our parish in bringing his wife and two young daughters. We are happy that this family has been active in our church Sunday school.
We welcome volunteers who are interested in joining the Refugee Committee. If you are interested, please contact the office.
