Enter into the sacredness of the Christmas week with a candlelight, traditional service.
The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols is a service that has its roots in Victorian England. The service tells the story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus in nine different readings, beginning in Genesis and ending in the Gospels.
The readings are interspersed with a selection of well-known Christmas Carols, hymns, and choir anthems. You will be treated to the music of Chilcott, Sirrett, Holman, Vaughan Williams, and Rutter.
A mince tart and mulled wine reception follows the service in the great hall.
Sunday, December 15th @ 4pm, drop by for a humorous and touching performance of the Christmas story presented by the children of our parish and of the neighbourhood. This year the musical will be Once Upon a starry night. Choir Director, Robin, Davis, and the children have been practising since September, so be sure to save the date in your calendar.
Enter into the season of Advent with a special choral liturgy. In Advent the church waits in hope and in expectation for the birth of Jesus.
This service will feature the music of our former choir director, Derek Holman, as well as, the works of other famous composers: Carter, Ledger, Bruckner, Biebl, Near & Palestrina. The music is paired with Scripture readings that prepare us for the Christmas story.
There will be a Fruit Cake and Sherry reception that follows the service in the parish hall.
Take note: Sunday, November 17th we will have one service at 9:30 am to accommodate the Santa Claus Parade. Our regular 8:30 am and 10:30 am services are cancelled. The parish of San Lorenzo Luiz who worship in our space in the afternoons will join us for this special early liturgy.
The Parade route has changed in 2019 and begins at our doorstep. Please make arrangements to use TTC if you can or park on the north side of Bloor in the Rosedale neighbourhood.
